Veggie Tales Toothbrush

Noah got a new toothbrush.
One of his Amarillo buddies, Jacob, gave it to him.
And he's pretty excited about it.
Yeah, I am being serious.

This isn't just any ol' toothbrush.
This fancy little toothbrush sings Veggie Tales, my friends.

Totally genius I tell ya.
Especially when you have a little boy
who hates {to put it lightly} getting his teeth brushed.

However, Noah does love Veggie Tales.
No doubt about that.
So, you can imagine the look on his sweet little face
when he heard the familiar tunes coming out of his new toothbrush.

Now brushing his teeth isn't nearly as bad as it used to be.
Take a look:

Photobucket

Can you believe it?! Noah is actually smiling as he brushes his teeth.

Photobucket

That is some serious brushing.

Photobucket

Apparently Noah has his Daddy's gag reflex.
Not good. Not good at all.
I'll spare you details.

Photobucket

Such a happy little guy with his new toothbrush.

Melanie & Jacob, we can't thank you enough
for the cute toothbrush you sent Noah.

Tooth brushing around here is getting easier by the day!
Praise the Lord!

Nautical Theme

I am really loving these nautical pieces for a little boy's room.

Photobucket

What do you think? Cute, huh?

Noah's nursery is a jungle theme, and I love it. I really do. But, I'm itching for change. A new theme. New colors. But we aren't changing things up anytime soon. Noah is still my baby, and he doesn't get a big boy room just yet. I'm just brainstorming ideas, because I am in fact my mother's daughter, and can't help my tendencies to decorate something. So, I decorate in my mind. That way I don't spend any money. Smart, huh?

The nautical theme has never been a favorite of mine, but when I came across these adorable items, I decided that I might be able to go for this theme after all. Or maybe I've been inspired by Popeye. Yes, I admit it. I watched a couple episodes of Popeye today, and I have no idea why. Actually, it is a pretty funny little cartoon. Maybe that's why. Anyway.

So I kind of like this theme for Noah's big boy room. But, we shall see. I'm not sure if I am dead set on it as cute as it is.

Photobucket

p.s. Thank you for your prayers. I have been feeling better today. My right ear is still clogged up, but I haven't felt as much pain in my left ear today, so hopefully that's a good sign. Thanks again!

What did you Say?

I can barely hear out of my right ear. And my left ear, well, it is beginning to ache. This all started Saturday on my flight back home from Kansas City. My ears were popping like I've never experienced before. I got off the plane and noticed my right ear was clogged up, and although it was slightly annoying, I thought it would only be a matter of time before it popped and it would be back to normal. Au contraire. I'm starting to think this "annoyance" is quickly turning into something worse. I think my ear is infected. And I am miserable. I have tried every trick in the book to try to get my ear to pop, but nothing {nothing!} is working. I'm a little frustrated, can you tell? Looks like I might be paying the doctor a visit very soon. Would you pray for me? I would really appreciate it so much.

Of course this little boy always knows how to make Mommy feel better.

Photobucket

I just love his expression in this picture. Makes me laugh!

Enchiladas? Yes, Please.

This is a recipe you must try: Rotisserie Chicken Enchiladas. Amazing! I made these enchiladas for dinner tonight, and my taste buds were thanking me. I am a big {big!} fan of enchiladas, so when I saw this recipe I knew I had to give it a try. Josh on the other hand, wasn't too sure about them, and he kept telling me they better be good. My response to him was, "Do you want me to cook for you or not?" Men!

Photobucket

This meal is easy-peasy! I've never made enchiladas before, so I wasn't sure how long it would take me to prepare them, but I whipped these puppies up in no time, and they were totally worth the effort!

And guess who ended up loving them? Yep, Mr. "They better be good!" thought they were pretty tasty. Goes to show Momma knows best.

On another note, my little guy is 20 months today. Can you believe it? I can't. Sniff, sniff. And in four short months he will be two! I guess it is almost time to start planning a par-tay!

Photobucket

Love you sweet little guy!

Life with a Toddler

Everyday is a new adventure with Noah.
He keeps Mommy on her toes that's for sure!
I am starting to quickly realize I can't avert my eyes
for long, because when I do, things like this happen:

Photobucket

Noah has recently discovered the top
of the dining room table. Yikes!

This boy can climb to the top of the table
before I can blink an eye. He is pretty sneaky
about it too, because he knows it's a big no-no.

Photobucket

Ah, life with a toddler!

What is Your Mindset?

This evening I came across an interesting, thought provoking story, and thought I'd pass it along.

As my friend was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a rope tied to their legs. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from the ropes they were tied to but for some reason, they did not. My friend saw a trainer nearby and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

"Well," he said, "when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and at that age, it's enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free." My friend was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believe they couldn't, they were stuck right where they were. The powerful and gigantic creature has limited its present abilities by the limitations of its past.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life holding onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before? How many of us refuse to attempt something new and challenging because of our so called mindset?

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

Back Home

Hello, hello. Did you miss me?

My sweet little man and I went to Kansas City this past week, and we had a fabulous time! Aunt "Abbo" {Noah's name for my sister Abby} and her fiance, Bibi, live in Kansas City, so we {and Mimi too!} journeyed up there to hang out and get a little wedding planning done. It was so nice to spend time with family, and we sure did get a lot accomplished while we were up there. Abby's wedding is going to be absolutely gorgeous; I'm so happy for her. I am looking forward to sharing our trip with you, but it will have to be another night because it has been a looong day. However, I will be nice and share with you a sweet picture of Noah from the trip, because a post just isn't a post without a pic, right?

Ta ta for now!

Guess what Noah Ate?

I guess it could be worse.
But still, I just cringe {and dry heave}
when I think about what Noah was chomping on.

What do you think Noah was eating?
Take a wild guess.

Photobucket

I'll give you a clue:

Photobucket

Okay, I'll give ya one more clue:

Photobucket

That's right, Mr. Noah had a mouthful
{and I do mean a mouthful}
of Einstein's dog food in his mouth.
Gag me. Makes me want to throw up
every time I think about it.

I thought we were past this
infatuation with Einstein's food.
But, apparently we are not.
Noah looked like a chipmunk his mouth was so full.

And really, there was no point wrestling with
him to try to dig the mush out of his mouth,
so I grabbed my camera instead.

Oh Noah.
What will I ever do with you?
I'm sure Einstein would appreciate it
if you left his food alone.
Silly, silly boy!

Grammy Time

Guess who paid us a visit last weekend?
Noah's Grammy!

The time we had together was much too short,
but it was still very special being able to spend the weekend together.

Here are a few pictures of our time together:

Photobucket

Noah trying on clothes at Old Navy.
He had outgrown all of his summer clothes, so he basically
needed a whole new wardrobe of shorts and t-shirts.
Grammy fixed him up! He got some really cute new clothes.

Photobucket

Next stop: the Park! Of course.
We had to show Grammy one of our favorite
places to go.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Love, love these pictures. You can see
what a sweet relationship Noah has with his Grammy.

Thank you Grammy for taking the time to come see us.
We loved every minute of it.

On Cloud Nine

I am floating on cloud nine.
Wanna know why?

Photobucket

I can't believe it!

When I submitted my picture in the
iheartdesserts photography challenge a few days
ago, I never in my wildest dreams thought
Bakerella {just love her!} would pick my picture
to be in the Top 10!

I still can't believe it!

And Noah was just so sweet.
He was smiling ear to ear & started clapping because
he could see Mommy was very excited about something.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the news with
all of my wonderful friends and family!

If you would like to see the "iheartdesserts" winning photos
{there are so many pretty desserts!} just click here.

Hope you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

p.s. A big congrats to my blog buddy, Amanda, for winning 1st place!
And thank you, Amanda, for letting me know about the contest.

Cars

Noah has recently discovered his love for cars.
The other day as he was digging through his basket
of toys, he came across these three little cars,
and the rest is history:

Photobucket

I walked in Noah's room one afternoon to check on him
{he was much too quiet!}, and this is what I saw:

Photobucket

He needed a track for his little cars,
so he was using the edge of his crib.
That's some problem solving right there.

Having a boy is so much fun!

Before & After

Guess who got his second haircut today?
Photobucket

But he was not happy about it, and
he cried the entire time. Poor baby.

We tried everything we could think
of to help soothe his fears, but
nothing {and I mean nothing} helped.
All he wanted was for that darn lady with
the scissors to leave his head alone!

And how Mrs. Kym did it without
butchering his hair, I don't know.

Anyway, Noah is doing much better.
He was all smiles as soon as we walked out of
Cool Cuts for Kids.

Photobucket
What a little stinker!

Photobucket

p.s. Happy belated birthday Pa!
Hope you had a very special day. We love you!

I {Heart} Desserts

I've been a little very stressed today, and I hate being that way. But the positive side of being stressed is that now I have a clean house. A very clean house. It's amazing what I can get done around here when I have a lot on my mind. Cleaning helped relieve a little stress, but I'm still feeling a little tense. And since I sometimes eat when I'm stressed, I thought it would be better to sit down and write rather than expand my waistline. So guess what I found? A fun little contest I think I'm going to participate in today. Never hurts to try, right? On iheartfaces this week, the challenge is to submit a dessert photo. Immediately this photo popped in my head so I thought, hey, I'll give it a try. Wish me luck!

We heart the Park

We really, really do. We can't get enough of the park. It is one of our favorite things to do as a family. Seriously, what better way to spend time as a family than to be outside in the beautiful weather? Actually, it doesn't matter where we are as long as we are together. Just the four of us. We had another adventure at Oakmont Park {our favorite!} the other day, and I just couldn't bear not to share these pictures with you. Enjoy!
