Haiti

My heart has been heavy for Haiti today. Thoughts of the devastation, the loss of life, the homes turned to ruble, the lack of resources, the chaos & fear that overwhelms the nation of Haiti have unceasingly filled my mind. I cannot stop thinking of the people, and often find myself overwhelmed with sadness.

While looking through images of the devastation on msn.com I came across a picture that made my heart sink: a heartbroken, tearful father holding his daughter who died in the earthquake.

As Noah and I played in his room together today, I couldn't get this image out of my mind. All I wanted to do was hold Noah, to hear him laugh, see him smile, smell him, kiss him -- tell him how much I love him. I do those things everyday, but I'm guilty of getting so wrapped up in this and that, and I often forget to just stop and embrace the moments I have with Noah. With Josh. With my family. To embrace each smile, each kiss, each hug. To cherish the time we have together. What about you? It's definitely something to consider.

If you would like to help with the relief efforts going on in Haiti, please consider making a one-time donation to Compassion’s Disaster Relief Fund. You can donate as little or as much as you’d like; it only takes one look at the photographs coming out of Haiti to know that the needs are great.

Let us remember to pray for the people of Haiti. I thank God that in the midst of chaos we can put our hope in Him.
