January 12, 2011

hello.

Are you ready for a very random post? Here goes..

Despicable Me is definitely one of my new favorite movies. I love it. No lie, Noah and I watch it {or at least have it playing in the background while we play or clean} every day. Have you seen it? If you love animated movies, then you've got to see it. "It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!!!"

Did you know cornstarch helps heal diaper rash? I've never tried it, but apparently it works wonders! I will definitely have to keep that in mind next time Noah has a sore bottom. Thanks Amanda for the tip!

Okay, so maybe, just maybe, potty training won't be as hard as I thought it would be. Noah tinkled in his potty again tonight! Before he got in the bath, he sat down on the potty and I asked him, "Can you go tinkle?" About a minute later the little potty was singing again! Then Noah did the cutest thing. He raised his arms in the air and yelled, "Yayyy!" and then he pointed to his pee and said, "Look!" So, it seems we are doing something right. I really appreciate all the wonderful advice all you experienced mommies gave to me today. Thank you!!

I bought some really, really cute fabric the other day! Yay! I decided it is time to pull out the sewing machine again and start sewing! Oh, how I've missed it. Can't wait to share with you what I'm making! It's a secret for now though. :)

Speaking of sewing, I only have a little over seven months left to finish up all of my Home Ec projects {oops!}. You may be seeing a lot of sewing projects in the upcoming months! Ha. I hope I can get them all finished by August...

Oh! Guess what came in the mail for me a few weeks ago? My new lens! It makes me so happy! *Sigh*

Well... I guess that's it.

I'll leave you with a picture of the fur baby:

My Very Random Thoughts...

Christmas is in twelve days! Can you believe it? I have a feeling December will come and go just as fast as November did. :(

Guess what I made this week? I pulled out my Bakerella book {love it!} and made some Santa hat cake pops. They were pretty sorry looking... a lot more lumpy than the perfection Bakerella wows us with. So, I'm off to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to get me some more candy melts, and I'm starting over! I have confidence the second {ahem, third round} will be picture worthy.

I rented out the Canon 50 mm f/1.2 lens today to play around with and see if it is worth the $$$$. Anyone have one of these beauties? How does it compare to the 1.4? I'd be interested in your thoughts.

I love watching Christmas movies. But you wouldn't have guessed that last Christmas... I don't think I watched one. So sad. But this year, we are making up for it. I guess we've been in a Jim Carrey mood, because the two movies we've watched so far were ones he acted in: The Christmas Carol and The Grinch who stole Christmas. Loved both of them! Tonight when Josh gets home from work, we are going to watch Home Alone {love that movie!}. Have you watched any lately? What are your favorites?

I really wanted to make this wreath to add to my Christmas decor this year... but I'm guessing it's not going happen. Maybe next year? Have you noticed the trend? I kind of have a thing for wreaths.

Josh finally broke down and let me buy a candle that wasn't a $2 cheapie from Target. Not that they are bad, I was just going through them every other day. So Josh finally gave into my pleas for a longer lasting candle, and we went to White Barn Candle Company in the mall the other day. And guess what?! They were having a sale! Lucky me, right? :) So we ended up buying two of them. Josh picked one out {can't remember the name of it} and I chose the Eucalyptus Spearmint candle. It smells aaamazing!

Oh, oh, oh guess what else I got? Can't believe I haven't told you yet. A new iPhone 4!!! My in-laws were planning on surprising me with it for Christmas, but they ended up getting it for me a little early because Radio Shack was having an awesome discount on the iPhone. I am loving it!

Speaking of the iPhone, all you iPhone users out there, have you heard of the 99 cent app called Cuptakes? It is an app full of custom designed wallpapers for not only the iPhone, but also the iPod touch, and iPad. There are already like 60 something to choose from now, but they say they are working on many more. You must check it out here. I love my new background!

Not long ago, we opened up a new bank account, and it wasn't long before my debit card came in the mail. I hadn't even taken it out of the envelope and guess who put it halfway through the shredder. Let me give you three clues. It wasn't Josh. It wasn't me. And it wasn't Einstein.

And last but not least...

Someone asked me today if I was engaged??? Can someone explain that one to me?

Randomness

Lots of randomness going on in my head tonight, so here goes:

I am loving the Fall weather! The rain fell literally all day long, and there was a nice cool breeze flowing through the air. Ahhh! Totally love it! I forget how wonderful this weather is after the long, hot summers we have.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture of Noah all dressed up as Buzz on Halloween night. Isn't he just the cutest?! I love my little monkey!

Not sure what has come over me, but I have been in cleaning mode lately. So much so that I cleaned under our stove {totally disgusting by the way} and wiped all the dust bunnies off of our washer and dryer {that never, ever happens!}. I even got my hubby in the mood to clean. He cleaned his bathroom from top to bottom for four hours {yes! four hours} last night. It's sparkly clean. And boy is it nice to sit on a toilet without pee stains on it. Well, it's true! Oh yeah, and I even got him to clean our balcony and organize the closet outside today... in the rain. Did I mention I have the most wonderful hubby ever?

I have a pretty awesome giveaway coming up in the next couple of days. Yippy! Love giveaways!

Josh and I leave for Mexico in TEN days! Cannot believe it is already here. Ahhhh! So ready for a vacation with just the two of us, even though I'm sure Noah's name will likely grace our conversation often.

I miss my sewing machine. Like a lot. I have several projects I am anxious to get started on, but just can't seem to find the energy to get started on any of them after I get Noah down for the evening. It's not a "I've got to crawl in bed right now" kind of tired. It's the "I just feel lazy tonight" kind of tired. Does that make any sense?

One of my favorite things about Fall is candles. Actually now that I think about it, I need a few new ones. Some delicious smelling candles. Mmmm. Suggestions anyone?

I want to make this wreath to hang on my door for the Fall. Isn't it lovely?! When I saw it on Jones Design Company I fell in love and I had to know how to make it. So, I emailed Emily and begged kindly asked for a tutorial. And, guess what?! She posted one today and I could not be more excited! Time to make a wreath baby!

Moving right along...

I have had both my mom and dad start up the "when do you think you are going to have another one" conversation this past week. I think it's safe to say, they are ready for another grandchild. Hm. That's a good question. :) {Don't get any ideas... that smiley face doesn't mean anything.}

Have you ever tasted Taco Cabana's salsa? My gosh, I've died and gone to heaven. Ask Josh, I could drink that stuff it is so good. Yum. Sorry, I know. So random.

I posted a couple of new do-it-yourself ideas and blog tutorials-- have you checked them out?

Okay, have I really not posted about Noah's birthday yet? Gasp! Definitely on the top of my list of blogs to write this week. Goodness gracious!

I'm done. I think. Yes, really I am. Oh, wait.. one more thing. This is just cute!

Thanks for reading my ramblings. Have a wonderful day.

Ramblings

I am rather annoyed right now. I cannot get any of my editing programs on my computer to work tonight. What is up with that? So, now you get to hear my random thoughts. Aren't you excited?! I have a bunch on my mind, so here goes:

I am way, way behind on blogging, and I feel like I can't get caught up. Maybe I need to start posting twice a day. No, that wouldn't work. I definitely don't have time for that. Does anybody else feel this way?

Today I woke up with zero {and I mean zero} motivation to clean our apartment. It was a total wreck and in desperate need of some attention, but did I care? Nope, not one bit. Then a few hours later, I got a sudden surge of energy and decided I would turn this place around and clean the whole apartment. Yeah that didn't quite happen. But, I did make a lot of progress around here. I'm pretty proud of myself. Maybe {and that's a big, fat maybe} tomorrow I will finish it up.

How do you like our new blog layout? I'm lovin' the polka dots {so fun!}, but I'm not so sure about our blog header. It just doesn't feel like the one. Hm. What do you think?

I cannot believe I have not blogged about my trip to Jamaica yet! Hopefully things will start to settle down around here; we've been so busy. I plan on having a series of blog posts on Jamaica because there is no way I could share everything in one post. So, keep your eyes peeled. I promise I will get to it soon!

I recently won a giveaway {yes, another one!} from the Englar Family blog. I won the book "How to Bring You Children to Christ... & Keep Them There." I'm not a big book reader, but I am really excited about reading this book. My greatest desire for Noah is that he would wholeheartedly love and follow Jesus and that he would be a man after God's own heart. We as parents are responsible to teach our children about Christ; there is nothing more important. I can't wait to start this book. Who wants to borrow it after I finish it?

I can't believe we will be celebrating Noah's second birthday at the end of this month. My baby is growing up! Sniff, sniff. We really are looking forward to celebrating his big day with all of our family and friends. It will be a great day!

This is really random, but I still can't wait to see Toy Story 3. I think I need a date night with the mister. Who wants to babysit Noah for us?

It has been scorching hot here lately. My gosh. I definitely think August has been the hottest month so far this year. The cool fall weather cannot get here soon enough!

Noah has been very vocal lately; it is the cutest! I'm sure it won't be too much longer before he is talking away. Noah says {or tries to say}, "Night-Night," "NO" {to Einstein on a daily basis}, "What are you doing?" and "Well, Well, Well." This age is so much fun.

Did you see the diy tutorial I posted for fabric poms? If not, you must click here. They are so cute!

I have some exciting news to share with you about Mr. Noah, so come back tomorrow, okay?

I think that's it for now.

Thanks for listening.

My Random Thoughts

Ready? Here goes:

I leave for Jamaica in 3 days! Is it just me or has this week flown by?!

I caught Noah trying to climb out of his crib this afternoon after his nap. Does that mean he's ready for his toddler bed? I'm not so sure I'm ready for that. Any advice on that is much appreciated!

I got in a car wreck this past Monday. Talk about perfect timing {insert sarcasm}. I am just thankful it was not my fault. But still, it was quite the pain having to deal with all of this the week before I leave for Jamaica. However, I am so very thankful that I was not hurt in the wreck. The Lord was watching over me for sure. And, thank you, thank you, thank you to my sweet friend, Laura, and her cutie patootie son, Ian, for rescuing me and taking me home since my car was not drivable. Yeah, Josh's car needs some shop love, so the Camry was our only car at the time. We have a rental car now, and hopefully our car gets fixed soon!

I have sooooooo much laundry to get done. Oh, and my bedroom is a total wreck. I have some major cleaning up to do around here before Grammy {and Papa, for a few days} comes to stay with Josh and Noah while I'm gone.

Guess what? A fabulous giveaway is coming up very, very soon. It is set up to automatically post on Monday {June 14th}, and it will last for the whole week while I'm away. I found out I will not have internet access in Jamaica, so no blogging for me. But don't worry. I'll share everything with you when I get home!

I am on week 5 of my running program C25K {Couch to 5K}, and it looks really hard. I have to run 5 minutes at a time {I know, I'm weak}, and it's pretty much going to kill me. I have to run tonight since I put it off the whole day.

One of my new favorite drinks lately is Chick-fil-A's diet lemonade. It is amazing, and it's zero points!

You may have been wondering where "This Week's Recipes" are for this week. Well, they aren't up because I did not do them. We have still been eating healthy this week, but between having to work a 12 hour shift Sunday night, getting in the wreck Monday, and getting ready for Jamaica, I just didn't have the time to put it together. Obviously I won't put one up for next week either since I'll be gone all week. But you can count on it the week after I get back from Jamaica.

My birthday is coming up! I'll actually turn the big 27 {wait.. hm.. I think 27??} while I'm in Jamaica on the 17th.

I have my Weight Watcher's meeting tomorrow, and I'm anxious to step on the scales and see how much I lost this past week. Crossing my fingers it's a good loss! I usually go every Monday, but I wasn't able to go this past Monday because I was stranded and car-less in a empty parking lot. It was not fun. In fact, one of the worst parts of the wreck was missing my meeting.

Josh and I are so addicted to LOST. Oh my, it's goooood. We are planning on watching at least 2 or 3 episodes tonight. Laundry, cleaning, packing... yeah those things can wait.

Ok, I think that is all. Oh, wait. One more thing:

I am hoping to give you all a blog tutorial before I leave {but I'm not making any promises}. Are you sick of using Blogger to upload your pictures? I hate the Blogger picture uploader; in the tutorial, I'll tell you why, and show you a way around it.
Ok. I really think that's it.

Have a wonderful evening.
